The Knoxville Code Enforcement Department will conduct inspections on commercial properties to ensure buildings meet minimum maintenance requirements that went into effect in January. Knoxville Community Services Officer Meredith Clark tells KNIA/KRLS News the requirements they are looking for.
“Some of the requirements we are looking for are that the exterior surfaces of buildings are maintained in such a way as to prevent deterioration of any part of the structure. We will check that every foundation, window and exterior door are reasonably tight against the weather, exterior stairs will be inspected to ensure they are built to be safe.In addition to structural features, we will check for physical hazards such as rubbish, rodent infestation, weeds and that all yards are kept clean and hygienic.
Inspections will begin on April 4
