Last summer, fans of our game were more grateful than ever for Test Match Special.
Commentary, conversation and laughter have guided listeners through the room of each day as they have for over 60 years and provided familiarity and entertainment when we needed it most.
And in 2022, the team will trade radio waves for the stage during TMS’s very first live tour. Jonathan Agnew, Phil Tufnell and Michael Vaughan will travel to every corner of the UK for evenings of fun, insight and memories.
Starting in Liverpool on April 9, 2022 and ending in Edinburgh on May 8, this 20-date live tour is the first that the BBC is undertaking for its beloved Test Match Special program.
Since its inception in 1957, TMS has followed thousands of matches through iconic voices such as John Arlott, Agnew, Brian Johnston and Sir Geoffrey Boycott. Each combining wisdom with not little wit for their loyal fans.
From the famous Ashes series to the World Cup finals decided on with the smallest margin, the TMS team has been a permanent fixture in cricket-loving homes across the country.
BBC cricket producer Adam Mountford said: âTest Match Special is fortunate to have a unique and special relationship with its audience, and this is a wonderful opportunity for three of our stars to hit the road and to meet some of those who make the program it’s – the listeners. I also look forward to attending some of the shows and sharing a celebration of cricket, radio commentary and maybe a cupcake! ”
The iconic trio will make you relive unforgettable memories as they play for England and watch them from the nicest seats in the house. From Birmingham to Barbados, from Christchurch to Kolkata, they’ve seen it all. As well as reliving the best moments the game has seen, the stars will give a candid take on the issues facing English cricket and our beloved game as a whole.
The evenings will also be the occasion to answer the burning questions of cricket⦠What was it really like to face Shane Warne in his prime? What really happened the night after the ashes of 2005? And which member of the TMS team never buys dinner?
