Two from Ajax among six accused of drug trafficking to the Caribbean: RCMP

Two people from Ajax are among six accused after the RCMP linked them to the export of cannabis from the GTA to the Caribbean.

Mounted Police, York Police, Peel Police and the Canada Border Services Agency worked together to execute several search warrants and arrest the six suspects.

The is part of the OALTO project which focuses on a drug trafficking ring and also resulted in five arrests in January 2021.

Two people from Ajax have also been charged in this case.

Search warrants were executed in Ajax and Toronto and approximately 80 kilograms of marijuana and five kilograms of hash were seized, along with over $ 40,000 in cash.

The police have laid the following charges;

Rene Smith (40), Ajax, Ontario

  • Conspiracy to commit an indictable offense, contrary to the Criminal Code (four counts);
  • Unauthorized export of cannabis, contrary to the Cannabis Act (four counts);
  • Unauthorized possession of cannabis for export, contrary to the Cannabis Act (two counts);
  • Unauthorized distribution of cannabis, contrary to the Cannabis Act; and
  • Possession of property obtained by crime, contrary to the Criminal Code

Krisha Stanisclaus (31), Ajax, Ontario

  • Unauthorized possession of cannabis for export, contrary to the Cannabis Act;
  • Unauthorized distribution of cannabis, contrary to the Cannabis Act; and
  • Possession of property obtained by crime, contrary to the Criminal Code.

Leonard Bailey (42), Alisha Bailey (38), Isshian Bailey (40) and Aziel Bailey (33), all of Toronto, Ontario

  • Unauthorized possession of cannabis for export, contrary to the Cannabis Act; and
  • Unauthorized distribution of cannabis, contrary to the Cannabis Act.
